The glamour of Rwandan cinema took center stage as Zacu TV, Rwanda’s premier production company, hosted a vibrant end-of-year gala at Kigali City Tower. The event celebrated a year of remarkable achievements, growth, and the channel’s influential role in shaping the country’s film industry.
The evening brought together a constellation of celebrated figures from the local film scene, including actors, directors, and key industry personalities. Notable attendees included Clapton Mugisha, better known as Kibonge, Dr. Nsabi, Francis Zahabu, Didier Kamanzi, and Ramadhan Benimana (Bamenya). Online series star Gratien Niyitegeka (Papa Sava) also graced the event alongside actresses Ariane Vanessa Irakoze of City Maid, Clenia Dushime, Antoinette Uwamahoro, and Saranda Mutoni.
Dressed in the night’s black-themed attire, these cinema stars added elegance and flair to the red carpet festivities. The gala highlighted Zacu TV’s journey from producing just 40 hours of content in 2017 to over 150 hours annually, solidifying its position as the top channel on the Canal+ bouquet in Rwanda.
“Through top-notch equipment and a strong commitment to original programming, we’ve achieved widespread viewership, especially with popular titles like The Bishop’s Family,” said Wilson Misago, CEO of Zacu Entertainment.
Since its establishment in 2017, Zacu TV has captivated audiences with hit series such as Seburikoko, City Maid, Indoto, Ejo Si Kera, Kaliza wa Kalisa, and Ishusho ya Papa. Its dedication to storytelling excellence earned the channel recognition both locally and internationally, with multiple awards and nominations to its credit.
After being acquired by the CANAL+ Group in 2022, Zacu TV has continued to expand, with plans for co-productions involving higher budgets and diverse content offerings. The company remains committed to collaborating with other producers and nurturing talent while cementing its status as a leading force in African entertainment.
Through its unwavering pursuit of quality and innovation, Zacu TV is not just redefining storytelling in Rwanda but also empowering the next generation of creators and performers in the region.
