In a move set to elevate Rwanda’s creative industry to new heights—literally—ZACU Entertainment has partnered with RwandAir to showcase Rwandan films on the airline’s in-flight entertainment system.
The announcement was made during ZACU TV’s third-anniversary press conference at Zaria Court, where filmmakers, industry leaders, and media representatives gathered to celebrate a major milestone for the local film sector.
Since its launch in 2022, ZACU TV has become a leading platform for local fiction, providing filmmakers with a home to distribute and monetize their work. The partnership with RwandAir marks another significant step in extending that reach beyond Rwanda’s borders.

Fiona Mbabazi, RwandAir’s Communication Manager, said the airline was thrilled about the collaboration.
“We’re excited to partner with ZACU TV, as this will make our passengers’ journeys more enjoyable,” she said. “These films will not only keep travelers entertained but also share Rwandan stories with audiences from around the world.”
Wilson Misago, Founder and CEO of ZACU Entertainment, described the partnership as a breakthrough for local filmmakers seeking new markets.

“As Rwandan producers, we’re all looking for international markets and audiences,” he said. “This partnership gives us that opportunity. With it, we’ll generate revenue to fund new projects, allowing more films to be produced and creating jobs for actors, producers, and technical crews.”
He added that when people travel, they often want to discover the culture of their destination, and films can serve as a gateway to understanding Rwanda better.
While the exact rollout schedule has not been announced, both partners expressed optimism that RwandAir passengers will soon begin enjoying Rwandan films as part of their in-flight entertainment.

Cedric Pierre Louis, Programming Director at ZACU TV, said the initiative is open to other local producers as well.
“If other producers also want to have their movies streamed on RwandAir, they can approach us through ZACU TV,” he said. “This is about promoting Rwanda because our films show our cities, our infrastructure, and our people. It’s a great way for the world to see what Rwanda looks like and to understand our culture.”

The collaboration between ZACU TV and RwandAir underscores the growing confidence in Rwanda’s creative sector and its ability to reach global audiences. Each film screened on a RwandAir flight will not only entertain passengers but also serve as a window into the country’s creativity and identity.
For ZACU TV, it continues a mission to empower local filmmakers and share Rwandan stories with the world. For RwandAir, it enriches the passenger experience while proudly carrying the nation’s culture across borders.
