U.S. ICE Arrests Rwandan Fugitive Prince Kid Wanted for Rape Charges

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of Dieudonné Ishimwe, a 38-year-old man who had fled Rwandan justice due to charges of rape. Ishimwe, known in Rwanda as Prince Kid, was apprehended in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 3, 2025.Ishimwe had legally entered the United States but later violated the country’s laws.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) assisted ICE in the operation to capture him.The Government of Rwanda, through the Office of the Prosecutor General, had issued a warrant for Ishimwe’s arrest on rape charges as of October 29, 2024.

Josh Johnson, acting director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, stated that the U.S. will not tolerate criminals who attempt to evade justice by fleeing to other countries. He further emphasized the commitment to continued collaboration with international law enforcement agencies.Ishimwe is currently detained by ICE, awaiting a decision regarding his extradition to Rwanda.

Ishimwe was served with a notice to appear following an arrest warrant issued by the government of his home country for rape.

“Foreign fugitives who attempt to evade responsibility for their criminal actions should take heed that we will find them,” said ICE Enforcement and Removals Operations Dallas acting Field Office Director Josh Johnson. “ICE will work relentlessly with our state, local and federal law enforcement partners by arresting and removing those who threaten the public safety of our communities.”
