Rayon Sports vs Bugesera FC match will be resumed from where they left with the same referees behind closed doors.

FERWAFA has officially announced that the suspended match between Rayon Sports and Bugesera FC will resume on 21st May 2025, at 4:00PM at Bugesera Stadium. The decision comes after the game was stopped in the 57th minute due to crowd trouble, with Bugesera leading 2-0.

The match was stopped after Rayon Sports fans threw stones onto the pitch in protest of a controversial penalty awarded to Bugesera , which led to their second goal. The referee was forced to suspend the game, sparking widespread debate among fans and football authorities.

NGABOYISONGA Patrick, the referee who will continue to officiate the match.

According to FERWAFA’s decision:

  • The match will resume from the 57th minute, keeping the 2-0 scoreline intact.
  • Only club officials — including the full executive committee and the honorary president — will be allowed in the stadium.
  • No fans will be allowed in the stadium.
  • The game will continue with the same players who were on the field and listed on the official match sheet at the time of suspension.
  • The referees and match officials assigned to the original fixture will not be changed.
  • The match will continue at the same venue, Bugesera Stadium.

Rayon Sports, currently trailing APR FC by 2 points with only two matches left in the season, sees this rescheduled fixture as crucial in the tight title race. The pressure is now even higher as they fight to recover their position at the top.

All eyes will be on May 21st as the Blue-and-White seek redemption — this time in silence for 33 minutes .
