In a historic evening at Wembley Stadium, Crystal Palace defeated Manchester City 1-0 to lift the FA Cup ,their first major trophy in 30 years. The lone goal came from Eberechi Eze, whose 16th-minute strike sealed a historic win for the Eagles.

Eze’s goal was a result of a swift counterattack, with Daniel Muñoz delivering a precise cross that the England midfielder volleyed past Stefan Ortega. Manchester City, despite dominating possession and taking 23 shots, couldn’t find a way past Dean Henderson in goal.

City had a golden opportunity to equalize when they were awarded a penalty in the 36th minute. However, Omar Marmoush’s spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Henderson, who had earlier avoided a red card for a handball outside the box ,a moment of controversy that will no doubt be debated for days.

For Crystal Palace, this victory was not just about winning a match — it was about rewriting club history. Palace had previously reached two FA Cup finals, in 1990 and 2016, but lost both times to Manchester United. Under manager Oliver Glasner, they finally went one step further and brought glory to South London.

This win also books Palace a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League and a spot in the FA Community Shield against Premier League champions Liverpool.

Meanwhile, for Manchester City, the loss marks a disappointing end to the season. It’s their second consecutive FA Cup final defeat, having lost to Manchester United last year, and the first time since 2016–17 that they’ve finished a campaign without a major trophy.

As Crystal Palace celebrate their long-awaited success, this FA Cup final will be remembered as one of the great underdog triumphs in recent football history.
