Rwandan entertainment investor KAROMBA Gaël popularly known as Coach Gaël, who also owns Music label 1:55AM and KIGALI UNIVERSE has set the country abuzz after announcing plans to host world-renowned American singer Chris Brown in a major concert in Kigali.

Taking to Instagram, Coach Gaël shared the exciting news with his followers, writing: “Rwanda is open. I’m bringing #chrisbrown here, mark my words🙏”

This would mark a historic moment in Rwanda’s entertainment scene, as multiple attempts over the past two decades to bring the Grammy-winning artist to the country have fallen through at the last minute.

Booking Chris Brown, whose full name is Christopher Maurice Brown, is no small feat. According to various online sources, securing a performance from the superstar can cost between $300,000 (approximately RWF 427 million) and $1 million (over RWF 1 billion) for a single show. The terms typically require a 50% deposit upfront, a private jet, five-star hotel accommodations for him and his entourage, and a long list of technical and logistical requirements.

Chris Brown has recently proven his continued global appeal with a massive concert in South Africa, where over 94,000 fans attended his show at FNB Stadium. However, not all shows have materialized — a planned performance in Kenya was canceled due to safety concerns involving the artist’s request for high-wire stage entry that organizers couldn’t accommodate.

While details about the concert’s date and venue are yet to be confirmed, Rwandans and fans across the region are watching closely, hoping this long-anticipated dream finally becomes a reality.
