Their combined versatility has brought renewed energy to the show and sparked fresh engagement from the audience.

In a brief interview, Obed Nshuti, Citymaid’s Director of Photography and a longtime member of the show’s technical crew, shared his thoughts on the cast changes and their impact on the series:

“The departure of iconic stars had a negative effect because when they left, some viewers who watched the show mainly for them also stopped watching, and the audience decreased. But when new actors and actresses—especially those who already have a name—join the project, they bring their own audience and acting styles. That gives the series new life. This is a long-running series, and it will keep going no matter who leaves. New faces will continue to join. To the fans who leave when their favorite characters go: we encourage you to follow the story, not just the characters. Stay tuned.”

His message highlights the show’s resilience and its commitment to evolving while staying true to its core storytelling.

Running strong for nearly a decade, Citymaid remains one of Rwanda’s most iconic series. It has played a major role in launching the careers of many of the country’s top actors and actresses. Despite the changes in cast, the show hasn’t lost its signature touch—it continues to convey meaningful messages to viewers while adapting and surprising its audience in powerful new ways.

Citymaid has not only entertained but also helped shape Rwanda’s film industry. With every cast shift, it proves that strong storytelling outlasts individual fame—and there’s still more to come.
