APR BBC crushes Nairobi City Thunder in BAL Nile Conference opener in Kigali

Rwandan powerhouse APR BBC kicked off their Basketball Africa League (BAL) Nile Conference qualifiers in style, delivering a commanding 92-63 win over Kenya’s Nairobi City Thunder in front of an energetic home crowd at BK Arena.

It was the first match for both teams in the qualifiers, and APR made their intentions clear from the start. The Rwandan side dominated all four quarters with sharp shooting, fast breaks, and tight defense. Aliou Diarra led the charge and was named MVP of the game, thrilling fans with an outstanding performance on both ends of the court.

Earlier in the day, Al Ahli SC BBC from Libya secured a hard-fought 87-77 victory against South Africa’s MBB BBC in a tightly contested matchup.

The BAL Nile Conference qualifiers feature four teams: APR BBC (Rwanda), Nairobi City Thunder (Kenya), Al Ahli SC BBC (Libya), and MBB BBC (South Africa). The top two teams at the end of the qualifiers will earn their spot in the BAL Playoffs set to take place in Pretoria, South Africa.

APR will be back in action tomorrow, aiming to build on their strong start and secure one of the two coveted playoff spots.

  • MBB BBC (South Africa) 77 – 87 Al Ahli SC BBC (Libya)
  • APR BBC (Rwanda) 92 – 63 Nairobi City Thunder (Kenya)
