From host to head: Aissa Cyiza promoted to lead Royal FM

Just five months after being named Deputy Managing Director of Royal FM, Aissa Cyiza has now been promoted to serve as the station’s new Managing Director.

The announcement was made today, August 6, 2025, by the leadership of Royal FM, one of Rwanda’s most popular radio stations. Cyiza’s appointment marks a significant milestone in her media career, which spans over a decade.

In March 2025, Cyiza had been promoted from Head of News to Deputy Managing Director, a role she held for five months before her recent elevation to the top leadership position.

A familiar voice to Royal FM listeners, Aissa Cyiza has been a prominent broadcaster for the station’s “AM to PM” program, which airs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. She has hosted the show for the past eight years, earning widespread recognition for her distinctive voice and professionalism.

Cyiza began her journalism career in 2012 at Isango Star, where she worked for three years before joining Royal FM. She has remained with the station ever since.

Beyond radio, Aissa Cyiza was also one of the hosts of the talk show Ishya, which originally aired on Rwanda Television before moving to a YouTube platform established by the show’s creators.

Her new role at Royal FM places her at the helm of a station known for its dynamic programming and loyal listener base. Many in the industry view her appointment as a testament to her dedication, leadership skills, and long-standing contribution to Rwandan media.
